Jacob's Review:
We took a tour at the Homestead Heritage. They have wood buildings there that they really built - most of them are new, not old fashioned. You can watch them make houses and benches and stuff. There is a blacksmith there - but a new kind of one. There are chickens and cows and other farm animals there, and they have a tractor too!
Dad's Notes:
This is a great example of modern day country living. A Christian agricultural settlement where you can browse, purchase and watch various high quality artisans plying their particular craft - from high end hand worked wood furniture, the modern blacksmith designing and working intricate wrought iron pieces.
Watch the pottery craftsman operating their turning wheels as they create some amazing stoneware pottery that you can take home with you! Don't miss the Café with carefully crafted sandwiches and homemade ice cream-YUM! The furniture craftsmen also offer woodworking workshops/classes on a regular basis - from one day intro seminars (hands on projects) to full blown fifteen day sessions where you build numerous projects to include a coffee table and rocking chair. Call or go online for more info. In addition to the self-guided tours, they offer special guided tours by appointment, including school and civic groups, conventions and group tours.
