Jacob's Review:
It's a REAL cowboy Fort! Just like the toy ones, but it's REAL! They have old cabins there, and I saw a real cowboy too! There is a tree tunnel you drive through up to the fort, too.
Dad's Notes:
This reconstructed pioneer fort has the stockade wall, two story blockhouses and two rows of log cabins inside the fort. It is an interesting history that in 1836 the fort was attacked and taken by Indians, the settlers killed and captured. Also about Cynthia Ann, a little girl who was captured, raised by Indians and whose Indian son came to be chief of the Comanche. You can read all about that and other history tidbits that continues till today.
This very historic site is something everyone in Texas should see! A very real sense of how early America was and lived! The history and stories behind it are amazing and continue today! They have all kinds of special events and activities through out the year - call or ask the staff about local history and upcoming events. Hiking, biking trials at the State Park. The old cemetery is 2 miles away (ask staff for directions). Fort Parker State Park is only 3 miles away - see next page. Call or check the web for the many special events.

| Jacob Tip: If you have a cowboy hat or Indian clothes you could wear them and people might think you live there! Dad Says: Coming back - come on US84 which is the old Brazos trail that all the cattle drives were on. | ||||||||
