Dad's Notes:
The Sauer-Beckmann living history farm is the original buildings in their original sites - a working 1915 German immigrant farm where daily chores and activities continue as if it was still yesteryear. Cows get milked by hand, cream gets separated, pigs get slopped, sausage is made, vegetables grown and canned. The village folk live here (from 8-5 daily) year round, they make soap spin cotton, cook, clean and do lunch in 1915. No electricity or running water, but there are 'interpreters' on hand to explain things to you, show you around a bit and to share a story or two.
You can take the bus tour of the actual LBJ Texas White house, home and cemetery. Take the bus drive along the river, ride along & tour the one room country schoolhouse, LBJ's birthplace, and nestled right along the Pedernales river is the Johnson family cemetery with the famous live oaks.
This working cattle ranch and 'Texas Whitehouse' is still home to Mrs. Lady Bird Johnson. The bus tour leaves from the visitor center.
There is also a swimming pool, museum type exhibits in the visitor center, tennis courts, baseball field hiking/nature trials and picnic areas at this large state park.
