Dad's Notes:
The W.M. Brook Park, along Sulphur Creek river has cement trails right along the river, changing to a nice long gravelled fitness trail, with fitness stations. Recommend bikes or running, as the rollerblading is more limited. The park is shaded with picnic tables, also an outdoor 'theatre' area and playground. Concerts and plays held outdoors in the spring and summer.
Across the way is Hancock Park with more playground and a swimming pool. The spring fed pool was originally an old Indian healing place, the original town was founded around the spring. Hancock park also has an 18 hole golf course.
The downtown area is very historic with cafes, coffee shops and restaurants, a museum and old historic Courthouse. Free maps of the historical driving tour are available at the museum, at the W. M. Brook Park and at the chamber of commerce. The historical tour will take you by some 30 homes, most of which are over 100 years old! The museum is located on Western between 2nd and 3rd downtown, and is open Saturday's 10 - 2.
