Dad's Notes:
OK, there are 2 LBJ parks, so don't get confused - one is here in Johnson city and one is 14 miles down the road in Stonewall. The President and First Lady Johnson wanted people to be able to tour these historically preserved places, this is all free.
LBJ boyhood home, a fully furnished 1920's home that not only can you tour - but the park rangers will give fun narrations and stories about the different items on display.
Then take a walk down the footpath out to the Ol' Johnson settlement. A number of old log cabin buildings - Cabin and barn (furnished of course), other stone buildings, an authentic chuck wagon and livestock (to include some 'ornery' longhorns). During the spring and summer you can find period dressed Settlers, cooking up chow at the chuck wagon or working at one of the cabins. They are chock full of interesting stories and will really give you an idea of what it was like to live in those times!
