Jacob's Review:
If your kids a little older this is really a neat day to spend on Sixth street! Their is a Museum of the Weird and there is pizza by the slice that I think is the best Pizza I ever am going to have! (the pizza was awesome - but there is a pizza place in Waco that has hidden rooms and secret passages)!
There are some neat shops and other good food there too! Dad's Notes:
When most people think of 6th Street in Austin, they think of all the nightlife but there's more to 6th Street than that. During the day, there are shops, restaurants and beautiful historic buildings to see that aren't open when the nightlife starts. Austin's Visitor Center is located at 209 East 6th Street, Austin, TX and they're open daily from 9am-5pm. They are very helpful there and they will even help you decide where you want to go visit and suggest places to eat. I had brunch at the Old Pecan Street Café. After walking around a bit, stopped at the Driskill Hotel to take in the history there. Gorgeous place. Even enjoyed a treat at the 1886 Café and Bakery while I was there.
