You skate on ice and even though you might think it's gonna be cold, it's really not - but don't wear shorts because it is a little cold! If you know how to rollerblade you can skate easier on the ice too. But you might not learn the hockey stop the first time.
Dad's Notes:
The closest ice rink (to Fort Hood) that we found - except when Belton Expo Center has ice skating (check their web site). A very nice center, not only open Skate- but they also have little ones hockey, and other kids programs including Ice Summer Camp!

They also offer free "try me" classes on Saturdays at noon. Be sure to contact the rink to check availability. Be sure to arrive early for the class because there is a limit on participants and it fills quickly. See their current ice schedule.

Public Skating $6.00 and skate rental is $4.00 for children and adults.
Kids under 5 years of age, skate for ONLY $5, including skate rental.
