Sierra Vista & Fort Huachuca Review:
Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca Area:
Sierra Vista is a beautiful scenic town nestled up to the Huachuca Mountains on one edge and framed by the San Pedro river on the other. I never imagined the desert to be so full of life and fauna! There are remains of early Gold Rush ghost towns nearby faint remains of the earliest European Conquistador settlements. The Apache Indians hunted the area and there are early petroglyph visible from the people that lived in the area before the American Indians. How far back? Archeological excavations in Sierra Vista have found remains of the ancient Mammoth hunter encampments - complete with Mammoth bones containing spear tips and some early human tools - dated about 10,000 years ago! Scenery, hiking, Mountain biking, top of the mountains camping, 4x4 trails, river trails, 2x Caves to explore (that I know of), ghost towns, hang gliding and of course swimming, dining, bed and breakfasts and golf courses.
