Sierra Vista & Fort Huachuca Review:
by Dad

Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca Area:

Sierra Vista is a beautiful scenic town nestled up to the Huachuca Mountains on one edge and framed by the San Pedro river on the other. I never imagined the desert to be so full of life and fauna!

There are remains of early Gold Rush ghost towns nearby faint remains of the earliest European Conquistador settlements. The Apache Indians hunted the area and there are early petroglyph visible from the people that lived in the area before the American Indians. How far back? Archeological excavations in Sierra Vista have found remains of the ancient Mammoth hunter encampments - complete with Mammoth bones containing spear tips and some early human tools - dated about 10,000 years ago!

Scenery, hiking, Mountain biking, top of the mountains camping, 4x4 trails, river trails, 2x Caves to explore (that I know of), ghost towns, hang gliding and of course swimming, dining, bed and breakfasts and golf courses.

Sierra Vista Food Reviews & Restaurant Favorites

Sophia's Italian Ristorante
1630 E. Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ

Reservations recommended
My new fav! Simple, yet fresh - small menu allowing them to focus on the quality of the ingredients. The pasta's are made from scratch, food is spectacular! Intimate only in size - it does tend to be crowded and a little loud when it is crowded. Currently BYOB - fine wines should be coming soon. As a new restaurant they are not open every day - call before you go, dinner reservations required.

Mesquite Tree
S Highway 92 & Carr Canyon Rd
Sierra Vista, AZ

I love their Chili Relleno dish - worth taking home! They have a number of great entree's and a decent wine selection. One of the best atmosphere restaurants in town! There deserts are not worth ordering - save the cash.

Safeway Deli
2190 E Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ
(520) 459-4204

Believe it or not - one of the best lunch's in town is the made to order sandwiches at the Safeway Deli!
