Sierra Vista ~ Nogales areas

Madera Canyon
Scenic camping, hiking, picniking

Ben's Review:

Dad's Notes:  In this scenic canyon you will find nestled between high canyon walls, a beautiful stream, feeding the large, densely wooded forest of big trees. There are picnic areas (some with picnic tables and grills) trails and the Bog Springs Campground (with restroom and water). Full of wildlife, over 200 types of birds, hiking trails from easy to 10 mile round trip hike to Mt. Wrightson. There is also a Bed & Breakfast in the Canyon - The Chuparosa Inn www.chuparosainn.com, 520-393-7370.
During the busy summer weekends the canyon is closed when it becomes full. If this happens on your trip you have to wait for people to leave before you can enter - however, the parking lot near the entrance has a neat trail you can use when this occurs. (Or just go during the week or in the winter!)
The backway from Sierra Vista (Through Sonoita) is probably longer - but very scenic.
